Virtual CISO (vCISO)
Security leadership without hiring a full-time CISO. We translate technology and risk into decisions management can make, and we see them through.
- Who it is for
- Organizations that need to make technology and security decisions with expert judgment, but do not have —or cannot yet justify— a full-time CISO. Also IT teams that need someone to present risk to the board in business terms.
- Typical duration
- Per project or ongoing, monthly
- Frameworks
- NIST CSF 2.0ISO/IEC 27001CIS Controls v8.1
Organizations make technology decisions every day: which tool to buy, which vendor to trust with their data, which project goes first. Often nobody looks at them from a security and a business perspective at the same time. A vCISO is that layer of understanding: it turns technical detail into clear options for whoever decides, and turns decisions into a plan IT can execute.
Two ways to work
| Model | When it makes sense |
|---|---|
| Per project | Building the security program, preparing for an audit or certification, or making a major decision with outside judgment |
| Ongoing, monthly | Permanent security leadership without the cost of a full-time executive |
You can start with a project and continue on an ongoing basis.
Independence
We do not sell licenses or resell tools. When we recommend a technology —or recommend not buying it— there is no commission involved.
How we run it
- 01
Assessment
We understand the business, what needs protecting, and where your security stands today. If there is no baseline, we start with a maturity assessment.
- 02
Roadmap
We agree with management on what comes first and why, with owners and a cost finance can approve.
- 03
Ongoing guidance
We take part in day-to-day decisions —purchases, vendors, projects, and changes. Every recommendation comes with its reasoning and its alternatives.
- 04
Accountability
We report progress and risk to leadership with indicators that need no technical translation.
